I understand that throughout the rest of the site we indent long extracts. But Abbott's speech isn't an extract illustrating a point we have made on our own. This column is about Abbott's speech. It's the first (but maybe not the last) time on the site we have deconstructed a piece of writing paragraph by paragraph. So let's establish a convention: When we deconstruct a piece of writing paragraph by paragraph: (1) The piece of writing gets its own font distinct from our usual font; (2) The piece of writing gets its own color distinct from our usual color; (3) Our annotations are in our usual font and color, but indented under the paragraph(s) they annotate; and (4) Our intro and conclusion are in our usual font and color and flush left, since they don't annotate anything.
